Prospects of Region Development are Discussed in Sakhalin

The conference "Strategic planning of Sakhalin Area development till 2025" is being held in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
Heads of the Area administration, Sakhalin Duma deputies, scientists and specialists from Moscow and Sakhalin take part in the conference which opened in "Sakhalin Mineral Waters" resort on Wednesday, as RIA PrimaMedia reports.

Sakhalin Traffic Blocked by Heavy Snowfall

The auto traffic is blocked due to the heavy snowfall in the southern and central parts of Sakhalin.
The roads Tomari-Novoselovo, Tomari-Krasnogorsk, Arsenyevka-Ilinsk are blocked. The Lovetzk pass is covered with snow and there is no way to get from Yuzno-Sakhalinsk to Nevelsk.

Taiwanese Vessels Held For Poaching Near Kuriles

The Federal Security Service's Sakhalin border guard department on Wednesday announced that two Taiwanese schooners have been detained for poaching near the Kuriles Islands.
The two vessels were brought to the port of Yuzhno-Kurilsk on the Kunashir Island, where they will be investigated for being caught intruding into Russian territory without the necessary permission.
