Strong cyclone hits Russian Far East

Japan poacher captain penalized 300,000 roubles

The district court of Yuzhno-Kurilsk on Monday sentenced Japanese poacher captain Kawabata Takashi to a penalty of 300,000 roubles (about 11,320 U.S. dollars).

NTT Com, TTC to Establish Undersea Japan-Russia Optic Cable System

NTT Communications Corp (NTT Com) of Japan and TransTeleCom (TTC) of Russia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) by which the two companies will jointly establish a 500km high-capacity undersea fiber-optic cable -- the Hokkaido-Sakhalin cable system (HSCS).
