Russia could bring Sakhalin II dispute to international court

The Natural Recourses Ministry said Tuesday that Russia should claim compensation, through an international arbitration court, for environmental damage and lost profits caused by violations in the Shell-led Sakhalin II oil and gas project in the country's Far East.

Negotiations on Sakhalin-2 to end soon

Russia's Industry and Energy Ministry is poised to complete negotiations on the Sakhalin-2 budget before the year-end, Deputy Minister Andrei Dementyev told journalists today.
He explained that they would include reviewing the estimated costs of the project proposed by the Sakhalin Energy Consortium, and some other agreements.

More than dozen quakes registered near Kurile Islands Tuesday

More than a dozen repeated earthquakes have occurred in the region of Kurile Islands since the beginning of Tuesday.
The strongest of them had a magnitude of 5.2 points on the Richter scale, sources at the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences said.

Sakhalin Energy has signed RUB 500mln contract

Sakhalin Energy has signed a RUB 500mln contract covering the construction and launch of a power plant with Iskra Energetika (Perm), Sakhalin Energy says.
