Shoigu worried about seismic activity in Far East

Emergency Situations Minister Sergey Shoigu has voiced concern about the seismic situation in the Russian Far East.

The number of earthquakes in the region has nearly doubled, he told a Monday conference, saying he was especially concerned by the Sakhalin quake of November 10-11. "This is the place where an earthquake flattened Neftegorsk eleven years ago," he said.

"I am very worried about the intensified seismic activity," he said.
