Sakhalin 2 LNG delivery launch pushed back to spring 2009

Sakhalin Energy, one of the world's top liquefied natural gas projects, will delay first LNG exports to Asia by six months to spring 2009 due to problems with pipelines, the governor of Sakhalin said on Friday.

Alexander Khoroshavin said the consortium was seeking bridging supplies to meet demand of customers in Japan.

"There will be no LNG supplies in 2008. They are delayed to spring 2009. Other plants will help meet the customers needs," he told a news conference.
