200 Sakhalin-2 Russian and foreign workers suffer from food poisoning

Close to 200 Russian and foreign workers erecting oil and gas objects in the north of Sakhalin suffered from food poisoning, the regional Rospotrebnadzor food quality watchdog said on Friday.

It said the company erecting the Sakhalin-2 coastal technological complex tried to conceal mass poisoning caused by rude violations in the canteen, which services 1600 workers, mostly Russian and Turkish.

The epidemiological investigation exposed violations of elementary sanitary norms in the canteen. Sixteen protocols have been filed about administrative violations. Anti-epidemiological and disinfection measures have been carried out.
